Quarantine Financials & form a new Board to house them

The unending saga of financial failures and credit crunch is too difficult to solve. Why not isolate them and put them in quarantine? I just have some rough ideas about what we can do with financials.

Financials have been pulling down the DOW for too long. It's time to cast them away either by taking them out or isolating them. The benefits are obvious. Those that are tainted by the deadly virus, bear flu, may go on living their normal lives in the DOW. Panic sell off and short selling problems should not apply to the healthy remainders. This is like removing the tumor from your body so that the healthy cells can continue their normal functions without being contaminated or killed by the cancer.

The isolated financial tumor may then be treated under special care in a quiet, clean and quarantined board. It could a gigantic ship like the Titanic or a space shuttle. For those investors who would continue to invest in these financials and/or new investors who are keen to buy e.g. the US government, they should be called upon to lock-up their shares and/or given special rights to subscribe for shares at a good discount taking into account the risks and losses lying ahead. Well, if this sounds like a 2nd tier board for stocks, too bad since financials have now really deteriorated into 2nd class. The board should open itself to applications from all corners of the world including our famous Sovereign Wealth Funds subject to certain conditions such as fairness, political neutrality and preservation of national security, etc. The mechanism should create a separate board that can grow independently with special class(es) of investors who are committed to take risks and should be rewarded with good returns once the turnaround or recovery comes. We must also give such board a good name. How about the Bailout Board?

Some in Wall Street have been trying to form their own "private stock exchange" for too long and this is time for them to make use of their innovative skills and experience to help the Financials. I am sure many in Wall Street would not say no to this idea. Why? The new Bailout Board will be a rich place for intense speculations among the crocodiles, a venue like the Colosseum in ancient Rome. They will have new jobs to undertake in the setting of the new board and subsequent activities in the new market. A brave new world for them to use their brains and skills. Yes, direct the deadly virus to a new world and quarantine the disease until they find a cure.

Well, if you find my idea to be absurd, look at History and you should know better than me.
