The Rat belongs to the Water element
According to Chinese Feng Shui, the element of water will be strong in the year of the rat. Several well-known astrologers have predicted an unsteady and volatile stock market for 2008. But have you thought about the strong water element in the Rat? Yes, it's water that you must look for in 2008 and do you know that there are water stocks and mutual funds for you to pick? If this sounds strange to you, search Google and you will find there are lots of listed companies involved in water businesses such as water infrastructure, engineering, purification, etc., in Europe and Asia.Real estate in Mainland China & Hong Kong
Real property prices in Mainland China & Hong Kong have risen a great deal in the last few years. Yes, we are seeing bubbles flying in the air but if you are lucky, you may still make a fortune before the bubbles burst! I mean if you are lucky but how many of us are the lucky ones? Why not look for good bargains in US housing?
This is what I think investors should seriously consider particularly those who have taken good profits from the stock markets in 2007. When the US housing crisis bottoms out or settles down, I am sure owners will gain a lot from the future rally. What goes up must come down and what goes down must go up! Get your cash (many banks are no longer lending for property purchase) and talk to a reliable estate agent in US about buying property for investments. When you see a good bargain, don't hesitate to take it up.Rats like grains, etc.
Agricultural futures are trading at record high. Demands can only go up and prices have to follow. Agriculture is an industry that recession cannot kill. You must eat. Pigs, cows and chickens must eat. And you know Rats are always eating and they like grains. The connection between the year of the rat and agricultural products is too obvious to miss.Cats are their enemies
Cats and rats are immortal enemies, I believe. So avoid anything related to cats, tigers, lions, etc. When you choose a stock, check the company's logo, products, corporate name or trade name/mark, etc. Do you know the traditional symbol of HSBC in Hong Kong? It is a lion. So if the share price of HSBC continues to decline in the Year of the Rat, don't be too surprised.

Strange, some of the forecasts have become true!
The bubbles of the real estate markets in Hong Kong and Mainland China have exploded. Many are severly hurt!
Rats and cats are enemies. HSBC and BOC in Hong Kong are having bad times and their share prices have dropped significantly. They both have "big cats" to guard their great gates!
