Stupid Hong Kong has ignored Premier Wen's kind advice

Do you remember Premier Wen's kind advice to Hong Kong at this time last year? You may have probably forgotten it but it has always been in my mind.

Premier Wen reminded Hong Kong:
  • to increase its competitiveness
  • upgrade its hi-tech sector
  • improve education and talent pools
  • improve the city's environment
Now, can you honestly say what we have achieved? We are certainly NOT increasing our competitiveness. All the time, people in Hong Kong, rich and poor, young and old, have been gambling by speculating in the stock market and the property market. They are like parasites and the pity is that even the local government has made huge losses in its so-called "investments." Today the local government has released the great losses in its foreign exchange reserves and many people are now criticizing the local government.

I can't see any upgrade in the high-tech sector. I must tell you that Hong Kong's standard of knowledge and skill in technology are pretty illiterate to me. Why? When we asked a local telecom broadband company to connect our new mini-notebook to the Internet last month, they failed to do so after sending three so-called technical persons to do the job. The only explanation given to us was that they did not know how to connect to the Internet because the system of our mini-notebook was LINUX not Windows! My God, Linux has been around for many many years and for a telecom broadband company telling us that they did not know Linux and could not connect us to the Internet, it sounded as if they were entirely illiterate in this 21st century! Personally, I think there is simply no technology in Hong Kong not to say "hi-tech." Premier Wen would be very disappointed to know this but I have to say it anyway because we are now victims of "technology" ignorance in Hong Kong.

I don't think there is any need to review about education upgrade or environmental improvement. Just take a look at our sky and you can tell how bad pollution here is! Just look at the sex or sex-related crimes committed by our younger generation everyday and you can tell how good our education has become!

So I have every reason to protest against such deterioration in Hong Kong's competitiveness (if any). Save as a stock casino, I really can't see where our competitiveness will go. The bad news is our role as a stock casino is already gone owing to the global financial and housing crises. Yes, the stock casino may come back but we may have to wait for a long time. In the meantime, where can you find the competitiveness of Hong Kong?

What Premier Wen highlighted in November last year has been entirely ignored by everyone in Hong Kong and now our local government must bear the responsibilities! I hope our Central Government in Beijing will investigate into this problem seriously and see the need for it to take the proactive role of leading Hong Kong to increase its competitiveness and to help poor guys like you and me to survive through this global recession. This is definitely not the time to rely on the local government. We must look to our Central Government in Beijing for guidance, advice, leadership, and direction. History has proved this is the right choice. We were only saved by our Central Government in Beijing after the collapse of Hong Kong when SARS attacked us.

God why have you forsaken us? Why are you doing nothing?
